Florian Favre Trio: Lyrisch eruptiver Jazz

The Fribourg pianist Florian Favre presents his trio with a worldly, pop-laden, sensitive and eruptive jazz, a sometimes complex but extremely vital music. Surprising twists and turns and rhythmic sensitivity characterise the interplay with Geneva bassist Manu Hagmann and drummer Arthur Alard from Paris. A sound that knows space and calm, but also physical force, bizarre suddenness and dramatic interaction.

But this concert will not be a mere homage to Oscar Peterson - Petrescu and his trio add their own artistic touch to the style and finesse of Peterson or Art Tatum, but also have a sense of the modern, for example by including Pat Metheny's "Always And Forever" in their repertoire. The Romanian Petrescu's irrepressible joy of playing and virtuosity is like a pianistic firework display; he presents his versions of classics from the American Songbook with strokes of genius.
